JOB DESCRIPTION

The Heavy-Duty Mechanic inspects, maintains and repairs all heavy duty equipment vehicles that run on electricity, gasoline or alternative fuels like ethanol. They will execute basic care maintenance like tire rotations and oil changes, diagnosing complex problems, and planning and executing vehicle repairs

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

·       Inspect, diagnose, repair, replaces and test all components of gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines, engine starting system, and steering and breaking system

·       Inspects, diagnoses, adjusts, repairs, replace and tests all components of clutches, hydraulic couplings, transmissions, transfer cases and axle assemblies

·       Inspects, repair or replace equipment winches, power take-offs, pneumatic or hydraulic pumps, booms, cables, blades and buckets

·       Inspect, repair, overhauls and re-assembles electrical components such as alternators, distributor, starters, relay and solenoids, etc.

·       Prepares work estimates of labour and parts costs; writes service reports

·       Interprets technical manuals relating to manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements

·       Keep minor records

·       Act in a courteous manner in order to project a positive image

·       Perform other related duties as signed by the Manager

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       1 years minimum Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman experience

·       The ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively & accurately under pressure

·       Reliable transportation and ownership of proper tools

·       Clear Criminal Record Check

·       Class 1 or 3 license would be an asset

·       A team player attitude with good time management and organizational skills

·       Able to work independently

·       Able to take orders and operate well under pressure

·       Able to adapt as the job requires

·       Good communication & time management skills are an asset

·       Experience with 140M CAT & John Deere Graders, Western Star Plow Trucks, John Deere & Kobelco Excavators, Takeuchi Skid Steers, Terex Backhoes, International Trucks, Loaders, Packers, Gravel Trucks & Trailers is an asset

·       Knowledge of light truck and automotive repair

·       Knowledge of Tsuut’ina Culture and Language

·       A valid Alberta driver’s license and reliable transportation is required

·       Must be prepared to provide a current (6 months or less) Criminal Record Check

·       Must be prepared to abide by Tsuut’ina HR policy including drug testing.

·       Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality
