TITLE: ARENA MAINTENANCE (Contract – Part-time/On-Call)
DEPARTMENT: SEVEN CHIEFS SPORTSPLEX/CHIEF JIM STARLIGHT COMMUNITY CENTRE
REPORTS TO: BUILDING OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR, S.C.S/C.J.S.C.C

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To ensure that the arena is maintained to the highest degree of cleanliness and safety for all staff, patrons and user groups of the facility
• To maintain all dressing rooms throughout the facility to ensure that all dressing rooms are clean and clear of vandalism and/or damages
• To perform daily operations and maintenance of the ice surface, rink boards, glass and other duties pertaining to the ice surface and arena that is including but not limited to maintenance of the Zamboni, ice edger, ice thickness, tools, and all equipment associated with the ice surface maintenance
• To ensure that all (fire) exits are free and clear from obstruction on the interior and exterior of all doors.
• To ensure that the proper maintenance and operations of all equipment of the facility are held with the highest degree of maintenance at all times as to prevent damage and/or vandalism of facility equipment
• To ensure that all cleaning materials/tools/equipment are put away and all doors locked when rooms are not in use
• To monitor the facility and all rooms within the facility for crime prevention of vandalism and/or theft and ensure that doors are locked at all times
• To maintain the ice plant and ensure that all aspects of the machine are operational and to adjust (if required) temperatures to ensure proper operations if and when needed
• To be responsible for the opening/closing operations of the facility, to ensure that the facility is operational for all staff, user groups/patrons of the S.C.S./C.J.S.C.C.
• To monitor all schedules for user groups of the facility and ensure the schedules are adhered too
• To have general knowledge of basic repairs to the facility if and when required so as to ensure safety for all staff/user groups/patrons
• To ensure that the facility is fully operational and free of all safety concerns/dangers/hazardous material so as to protect the staff/user groups/patrons of the facility
• To provide quality customer service to a wide variety of arena user groups by aiding with questions or concerns
• Participates in ice plant shut down and other systems shutdowns/commissions as required
• Inventories ice making equipment and tools associated with duties
• Monitor arena performance in observance with Occupational Health and Safety Standards
• If required assist with other areas of the overall facility and be knowledgeable in the tasks to be completed
• AARFP Arena level 1 and or 2 would be considered an asset

QUALIFICATIONS
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Valid drivers license and own transportation
• Ice Making Level I or equivalent
• Level I First Aid or equivalent including full knowledge of CPR techniques and AED certification
• Must have or be willing to obtain WHIMIS and H2S Alive Confined Space Entry certification
• Excellent interpersonal communication and public relations skills
• Full working knowledge of the Olympia including but not limited too minor repairs if and preventative maintenance
• Ability to work under stress and meet time demands set to strict schedule
• Ability to work within a team environment and minimal supervision
• Willingness to obtain further employment and educational training if and when required
• Must be punctual with respect to the business hours of the S.C.S./C.J.S.C.C. in the opening and closing of the facility
• To be physically fit to perform and complete the required demands and tasks assigned
• Must provide Criminal and Vulnerable Sector check upon hire
• Be knowledgeable with Microsoft office i.e. for reporting/scheduling
• Must be willing to cross training in building operations/arena operations
