SALES CLERK
Department: Culture & Language
Reports to: Museum Director
JOB DESCRIPTION: Receive, store, and issue sales floor merchandise. Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with merchandise and arrange merchandise displays to attract customers. May periodically take physical count of stock or check and mark merchandise.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Operate a cash register efficiently and perform checkout procedures at or above expected performance standards including minimum transaction time. Follow all check-out and cash handling procedures and policies
• Maintain excellent store conditions
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Complete cleaning duties as assigned, including floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register area
• Communicate with customers in a friendly and courteous manner
• Ensure that displays and case signs are updated
• Protect company property, funds and merchandise at all times
• Stocking inventory
• Ordering cleaning and stationary supplies
• Courteous, diplomatic reactions (on phone and in person)
• Relay messages or redirect inquiries as required
• Responds visitors with professionalism

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be a people person
• Must be bondable
• Pleasant telephone and in-person manner and voice
• Prompt arrival and regular attendance at work – for full time, 8 – 4 schedules
• Careful attention to office duties and willing to pitch in to help co-workers
• Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Retail sales experience, cash management and excellent customer service experience preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Criminal record check
