Title: HR Assistant

Reports to: Human Resources Director

Tsuut’ina Nation is a strong and proud First Nation committed to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens today and for future generations. In order to support its growth, Tsuut’ina Nation is recruiting an Assistant to join the Human Resources Department

Job Summary:

The HR Assistant is the entry-level role into the profession of Human Resources. In this role, you will support a complex employee base through the employee life cycle. This means supporting Recruitment, Benefits, Performance Management, and HRIS maintenance and data entry in a busy environment.

This position is best suited for someone who has a solid understanding of expectations working in an office environment. The successful candidate is also expected to be experienced interacting in varying people circumstances, exceptionally strong interpersonal skills, strong character, and superior ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality.  Ideally, the successful candidates are interested in formally developing their human resource knowledge through continuing education.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide recruitment support and interviewing scheduling as delegated by the HR Business Partner
  • Provide support and back-up on HR administrative tasks as delegated by the HR Business Partners
  • Deliver administrative assistance to the Human Resources department in the areas of benefits, all employment related inquiries, maintenance of employee records & HRIS
  • Answer telephone, screen & forward calls & provide information as required
  • Maintain human resources files, forms, and templates.

Education / Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong editing, writing, and communication and research skills
  • Ability to facilitate effective and accurate communication
  • Knowledge about Treaty No. 7, Treaty Relations with Canada, Jurisdictional Authority of Tsuut’ina
  • Must be able to work independently under minimum supervision and in a team environment
  • Legal assistant background and experience is an asset
  • Multitasker with the ability to work in stressful situations and meet deadlines
  • Post Secondary or specialized training preferred

General Employment Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Alberta Driver’s License and must have own reliable transportation
  • Must be willing to sign an Oath of Confidentiality
  • Must be willing to Travel and must hold a current valid credit card for travel purpose
  • Must be able to pass a security clearance
