Term:              12 Month Contract



Position Overview:

The purpose of the Cultural/Family Liaison is to provide support and delivery of Community-based sport for social development projects relevant to the goals and guidelines of the Sport for Social Development in Indigenous Communities (SSDIC). This position will work as a team, and develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that meets the objectives of the SSDIC. This position also works with school staff, parents and community members (who work closely with children and youth) to increase their knowledge, skills and competence related to mental health and illness.


Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Plan and implement programs related to social development, physical and mental health activities.

·       Delivery of programs involving large and small group in schools and community settings,

·       Plan cultural activities

·       focus on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable others to better their own physical and mental health.

·       Facilitate program development.

·       Work and develop community partnerships and committees.

·       Involve students, staff, parents and community in cultural activities, physical and mental health wellness

·       Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation.

·       Evaluate the effectiveness of the programs offered and implemented.

·       Ability to work within and manage a restricted budget

·       Knowledge of local community and resources available


Qualification & Work Experience:

·       Grade 12 High School Diploma

·       Comfortable with public speaking

·       Strong relationship building skills

·       Effective time management skills

·       Takes initiative and is able to work independently as well as in teams

·       Self-directed

·       Resource management skills

·       Solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs

·       Knowledge of Social media tools is an asset

·       Ability to develop and supportive relationships with young people

·       Creative problem solving and decision-making skills

·       Comfortable liaising with community members, school staff, community agencies and health care providers



If you are a successful candidate you must provide proof of COVID vaccination, or you may select to produce a negative PCR (molecular polymerase chain reaction) or rapid test result, date-stamped within 72 hours of every scheduled work day/shift, on an ongoing basis starting on December 14, 2021. These tests will be paid for by the employee.
·        Employees who are unable to get vaccinated due to medical reasons may request an exemption and accommodation, upon providing written confirmation from a registered physician that they are unable to get vaccinated due to medical reasons.

·        Depending on your position – a Vulnerable Sector check may be required upon application from all provinces, states or countries lived in for the last four years. Vulnerable Sector checks must be completed within the past month.
