Title:                      Accounts Payable Clerk

Department:          Finance Department

Reports to:            Accounts Payable Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: The Accounts Payable Clerk works under the supervision of the Account Payable Supervisor to ensure accurate coding and posting of supplier invoices and payments.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Verifying completeness of supporting documentation for individual cheque requisitions, including any applicable compliance forms required by policy or funders
Reviewing payables back up for consistency and appropriateness of GL coding
Posting screened batches if confirmed correct
Identifying and escalating out of policy, inconsistent or unusual transactions to Finance Controllers
Reconciling supplier statements to accounts payable records, including following up with suppliers and collection agencies
Maintenance and posting of recurring file payments (monthly, bi-monthly, etc.)
·       Obtain approvals and signatures on purchase orders and cheque requisitions

·       Cutting and sorting cheques for settlement of accounts payable

·       Archiving closed purchase orders and updating committed funds

Filling in for Accounts Payable Supervisor if required
Other related duties as assigned by the Accounts Payable Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIRMENTS:

Proven punctual and reliable attendance at work
Comfortable working with numbers and attention to detail
Self-motivated and ability to problem solve with tact, cooperation, and persistence
Certificates of course completion or confirmed experience with general bookkeeping practices and basic accounting principles
Ability to organize work to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Confident manner
Experienced Xyntax user
High School Diploma
Confidentiality is an important expectation of this role and an oath of confidentiality is required and enforced
·        Must be willing to complete a security check with the Tsuu T’ina Nation Police Service
